In addition to MP module processor,the main control unit mainly includes COMM board.The COMM board includes five types:MPMP,MPPP,STB,V5,ISDN UCOMM.Each COMM board can process up to 32 HDLC channels at the same time,and the physical layer is 2MHW lines.Each logical link(channel)can select 1 to 32 TS from 4 HWs at will,but the total number of timeslots does not exceed 32.
Main functions of communication board COMM:
Complete the communication within and between modules,and provide the link layer of No.7 signaling,V5,ISDN UCOMM board.
HDLC protocol(High-Level Data Link Control Protocol)is used for communication with peripheral processing units,which can process 32 HDLC channels at the same time.The communication link adopts load sharing mode to improve the system reliability.
Through two 4K bytes of dual-port RAM and two independent buses,the main and standby MPs are connected to exchange messages,and the MPs can send interrupt signals to each other.
COMM indicators and keys are described as follows:
COMM board generally has two indicators,one green and one red.
HL1(green):used to indicate that the board works normally.For MPMP and MPPP boards,the HL1 light flashes slowly under normal conditions.For STB and V5 boards,the HL1 light flashes quickly when the link is activated.
HL2(red):used to indicate that the board is not working properly.
The COMM board has only one key:S1 reset key.
Summary
As we already know,MP sends messages to DSN through COMM and DSNI-C boards.Here,the connection between COMM and DSNI-C board has the relationship of”odd to odd,even dual”.That is to say,when the DSNI-C board in slots 13 and 14 and the COMM board are connected to transmit messages,slot 13 corresponds to the COMM board in odd slots.14 slots correspond to COMM boards with even slots.If this connection is interrupted,the whole system will be paralyzed.
