Cerro Los Gatos mine,Esther deposit and Amapola deposit are three silver-lead-zinc mining areas,which are part of the 14 ore belts in the Los Gatos area,which is the center of the Mexican silver ore belt.
Cerro Los Gatos mine is the first commercially successful mine in the region.They sell concentrated materials to Japanese foundries in Mexico or to other places through middlemen.The annual output of the mine is about 9.2 million ounces of silver,equivalent to the annual inventory.Cerro Los Gatos Mine is the best example of total maintenance cost(AISC)of silver mining industry.
The mining industry needs to ensure all-weather operation,and this mine includes several vertical shafts,which are connected with each other to form a horizontal roadway network under the surface of the basin,and the water in the basin naturally forms a large underground reservoir.In order to maintain the mining and production of Cerro Los Gatos mine,groundwater needs to be pumped out.
Since the depth of water accumulation exceeds 400 meters,Cerro Los Gatos Mine decided to use two air-cooled VACONs®1000 independent 128 A/4160 V medium voltage converter.

A new generation of frequency converter was installed in Mexico,and the mine took the lead in adopting such solution to pump water from a place 400 meters deep.
The installation of an effective pumping system has become a multi-stage project.First,make diagnosis after the field visit,and then start to evaluate and select solutions.Finally,the solution is installed and debugged.At each stage,Danfoss works with solution integrator and business partner Autronic.Their comprehensive talents have formed a multidisciplinary technical and business team to start the process of continuous communication with users to analyze the implementation of the solution at each stage.
14 weeks manufacturing time
Due to this cooperation mode,the manufacturing time is only 14 weeks,setting a record for projects of this scale.The knowledge and experience of Mexican technicians have made an important contribution to achieving this goal.Because of its flexibility,availability and cooperation with the end user team,the project can be completed quickly.
